Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 August 2026
This policy explains what RigVerse collects, why we collect it, how it is used, and the controls available to you.
The short version. Your gear collection, purchase prices, serial numbers, receipts, private messages, and band files are private by default. RigVerse does not sell your personal information. You can delete your account from inside the app.
What we collect
- Account information — email address, username, display name, sign-in method, and authentication/session data.
- Profile information — profile photo, bio, instruments, genres, favorite brands, experience level, general location, and gear finder radius if you provide them.
- Gear records — names, brands, models, years, condition, photos, purchase prices and dates, estimated values, serial numbers, receipts, notes, and maintenance records.
- Community content — public questions, answers, votes, attached gear context, photos, and audio clips you choose to share.
- Friends and messages — friend invitations, friend connections, direct messages, attachments, and message metadata such as time sent/read.
- Band organization content — band names, members, roles, instruments, rehearsal plans, schedules, notes, venues, sheet music, set lists, shared files, and posts.
- Alerts and preferences — alert types, saved item preferences, price-drop preferences, new-arrival preferences, and received alerts.
- Technical information — device type, app version, IP-derived request metadata, logs, diagnostics, and crash/error information used to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account.
- To show your private gear vault, gear details, photos, value history, and maintenance records.
- To process valuation requests in an admin-reviewed queue.
- To operate public community questions and searchable answers.
- To support invited friends, friend-only messages, shared attachments, and band organization.
- To create alert preferences and show alerts when matching activity is available.
- To prevent abuse, spam, fraud, security incidents, and misuse of the service.
- To improve reliability, diagnose crashes, and maintain the app.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your gear collection, messages, band files, or purchase history with advertisers.
Serial numbers and receipts
Serial numbers are encrypted at rest and are never shown on a public profile or to another user. Receipts and warranty documents are stored privately and are not publicly reachable. These details exist so that you can manage ownership records, maintenance, insurance preparation, and recovery information.
Photos, audio, and uploaded files
RigVerse lets you upload gear photos, profile photos, audio clips, sheet music, PDFs, screenshots, notes, set lists, and other files. Files are used to provide the feature you chose, such as showing a gear thumbnail, attaching context to a question, sending a message, or sharing material with a band.
Do not upload files that contain information you do not want other intended recipients to see. For example, a public question attachment can be visible to the community, while a band file is visible to members of that band.
Location
We store a general location — city, state and country — and your gear finder radius if you provide them. We do not ask for or display your street address. Location is used for profile context, gear finder radius, and future nearby item or alert features.
Valuations, community answers, and AI
Gear valuations are estimates based on available sale information and are presented as ranges with their confidence and sources. They are not appraisals, and actual sale prices vary with condition, demand, location and timing.
RigVerse does not directly auto-answer user valuation requests or community questions. These items wait for an admin to process. If an admin uses AI to help produce an estimate or answer, relevant request content such as item details, photos, question text, and selected attachments may be sent to an AI provider. We do not intentionally send serial numbers, receipts, private messages, or account credentials to AI providers for public answers.
Who can see what
- Private by default — your collection, total value, purchase prices, serial numbers, receipts, maintenance records, and private files.
- Public when posted publicly — community questions, answers, votes, and attachments you add to public questions.
- Friend-only — direct messages and attachments between friends.
- Band-only — band posts, schedules, notes, sheets, files, set lists, and member lists for the band workspace.
- Admin access — admins may access account, queue, question, valuation, and moderation data when needed to operate, secure, or support the service.
You can change your profile visibility and hide your collection value at any time in the app.
When we share information
We share information only as needed to operate RigVerse: with infrastructure providers, storage providers, authentication providers, analytics/error diagnostics providers, AI providers when an admin processes a request, and legal or safety authorities if required by law or needed to protect users. Service providers are allowed to use information only to provide services to RigVerse.
App permissions
- Camera and photo library — to add gear photos, profile photos, question images, and message or band attachments.
- Microphone — to record or upload audio clips for music-related sharing.
- Notifications — to show account, message, community, valuation, alert, or band updates if enabled.
- Location — only if enabled by you for general location or nearby/finder features.
Deleting your account
Open Profile → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and personal account data from active use. Some information may remain for a limited time in backups, logs, security records, or where retention is legally required. Public content may be removed or anonymized depending on the feature and technical requirements.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account exists and while it is needed for the feature you used. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis. Security and diagnostic logs may be kept for a limited period to protect the service and investigate abuse or reliability issues.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards such as encrypted transport, hashed passwords, token-based sessions, and encryption for sensitive serial number storage. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so you should use a strong password and keep your device secure.
Children
RigVerse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information. Deletion is available directly in the app. For anything else, email privacy@rigverse.app.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
